Syd's Birthday Invitations

Sydney couldn't decide what kind of party she wanted this year, so we missed the boat to have her party on her birthday. So when she finally decided, we picked this Saturday for the date!

She told me she wanted to invite her friends over to paint their nails and watch a princess movie and play Musical Chairs!!!! :) Ahh, the simplicity of my girl!!!! :) So we talked and decided it would be hard to watch a 2 hr movie and fit anything else in. So we decided on a "Pamper Party" (for lack of a better name)!! We are going to do nails, toenails and a hairstyle. I have my friends Kori and Ilse and Ilse's 14 yo daughter helping me to do the "pampering". She invited 7 girls, so I thought that was manageable. We are going to do light snacks and then of course cake and ice cream.

Anyway, I wasn't sure how to fashion the invites so I turned to the craftiest, most imaginative person I know and she gave me the PERFECT idea!! THANKS CAREN - what would I do without you?!?!?! :)

I think they turned out pretty cute and she loved them!!! I'll be sure to post pictures of the party next week!! :)

Yesterday Sydney had a party at school. She wanted to do something for her teacher and I had seen this idea in the Family Fun magazine and thought it was cute. We took four little Mary Kay lotions and wrap them together with ribbon and then covered them with cutouts of her hands. I thought it turned out pretty cute and Syd loved it!!! :)

So I had seen a bunch of different "heart themed" hairstyles online and wanted to try some!! Here's the one I did for her to wear to school yesterday!

And here's the one she wore this morning!!

We had a pretty low key day. I was going to try to make heart shape pancakes for breakfast but she had an early Basketball game, so I think we'll try for tomorrow!

Annual Checkups

Both of the kids went to the doctor yesterday for their annual checkups (6 and 9). They both are doing great! (Rex took them so my information is limited!!!) ;)

The doctor does think Mason has allergies and when Rex told her what I'm allergic to, she said Ah HA!! However, we aren't going to have him tested because the tests are just too intense for kids. So we are going to try him on Zyrtec and see if that helps. She said his nasal cavities were practically blocked. No wonder he's sniffing all the time! :( And he ALWAYS has dark circles under his eyes and I read somewhere that could be allergies!

Otherwise, here are their stats (Daddy doesn't know to ask for % so I don't have those...lol...):

Mason: 54.5 lbs
49 inches

Syd: 53 lbs
47 1/4 inches

So Mason has taken the weight lead again. She did have him beat there for a little bit, but she's getting tall and starting to thin out. Apparently the doctor told Mason that she was gonna catch up to him and Sydney said "Yeah Mason, you need to skip a birthday!!!" Rex said the doctor laughed so hard!! Little stinker!! :)

I thank God for my healthy kids!!! :)

Happy 1st Anniversary Mike and Shannon!!!

It's hard to believe that one year ago today we were in Florida watching my brother marry the girl of his dreams!!! :) Unfortunately, Mother Nature dealt a hand we weren't expecting, but like Shannon said "A wet knot holds tighter!" :)

What a year you two have had!! A beautiful wedding surrounded by family and friends to join your hearts and lives as one!! An exciting honeymoon with an added "gift"!! ;) And then less than 4 months ago, a precious baby girl!!! I'd say 2008 will be a year you'll never forget!!

Happy Anniversary guys!! I love you both SO much!!! Enjoy your day! I pray that your love grows stronger every day and you always have the happiness you felt here....

Happy Birthday Sweet Girl...

How is it possible that this precious baby....

This beautiful little girl...

...can be SIX years old already????

Sigh!! Where has the time gone??? It's so bittersweet!! What an amazing, smart, loving, caring little person she has grown into already!! But I miss the days of holding her in my arms and a time when she wasn't too busy to sit with me for more than 5 minutes!!! :) I wouldn't change her for the world though. I'm amazed by her everyday!! She's SO smart!!! She's halfway through Kindergarten and she already reads chapter books and does addition and subtraction and can spell just about any word you ask her!!! She's so smart, but more importantly - she's such a sweet girl!! It's hard to explain but she's one of a kind!!! :) I pray she never changes!!!

Still on my "good mom" high from yesterday, lol, I wanted to make her a fun birthday breakfast, so this is what she woke up too!!! :)

She was very excited and this smile made it all worth it!!! :) (OH and they actually tasted good too!!!! LOL!!!)

We then went to her basketball game and then she invited our friend Katie over to play! They had a great day (with her new Polly Pockets and her new favorite game - a Barbie computer fashion design game - out of the park HOME RUN Ohio!!! :) )

Mason was staying overnight with Nanny so we asked Katie to sleep over and then took them both to Red Robin to celebrate her birthday!!!

Sydney was VERY happy (although shy) about the waiters and waitresses clapping and singing for her!! She loves that!!! Not to mention the fun sundae that comes with it!! :)

So when I tucked them in tonight, she yawned and with a wide grin said she had a great day!!! And as I walked out of her room, I heard the giggles of two big girls and I realized that time marches on - whether we are ready or not!!!

(As a sweet PS - when I was looking for a baby picture of her, I came across this adorable picture. This is Katie - and Mason of course (could you not just eat him alive...lol), the day after Syd was born!! Marching right on I tell ya....they are 7 and 9 now...sigh...)

Feeling pretty good...

Being a FT/work outside of the home mom, I typically find myself feeling inferior in a lot of ways because I don't have a lot of extra time. I look at all the things other moms do for (and with) their kids and often feel like I'm falling short. So for me, this is a pretty big deal and I was pretty proud of myself. (I can't take credit for the idea though - I borrowed it from Caren!! :) )

Sydney's birthday (waaa) is tomorrow and I wanted her to have a special birthday treat to take to school and share with her friends!!! This is what we made!!! :)

We made "Heart Wands"...Rice Krispy treats (with a color splash of Fruity Pebbles)...I thought they turned out really cute (pink for the girls and blue for the boys)...

Syd loved them and helped me on Thursday night. I cut them out and she put them in the bags. I had to finish them after she went to bed so I got a picture of her with them on Friday morning, ready for school!!! :)

2009 is here and so am I....

Hard to believe how far I've let this blog go without updating!!!! It's crazy....but then, so is life!! :) Hence the title of this blog.

It needed a facelift for me to get back to it. I'm not crazy about what I picked, but I needed a change. So I took what I could from what was offered. I'm not ready to pay for a custom header!!! :)

So I can't begin to imagine trying to go back and catch up, so I guess I'll try to just move forward!! And do my best to stay with it. Hopefully I can get some people interested in reading again and that will prompt me to update!!! :) I'm trying to keep up with Facebook and am not succeeding with that either...sigh...

If anyone is reading this now - thanks for not giving up on me!!! :)
